Chaco Chachalaca

Ortalis canicollis

Least Concern

The Chaco Chachalaca is a noisy, social cracid of dry Chaco woodland of Bolivia, Paraguay, Argentina, and nearby Brazil. It moves through thickets, forest edges, and trees in pairs or small groups, feeding mainly on fruit, flowers, leaves, and other plant material. It remains comparatively widespread, but healthy forest and woodland still matter for keeping local populations secure.
