Colombian Chachalaca

Ortalis columbiana

Least Concern

The Colombian Chachalaca is a noisy, social cracid of wooded valleys and slopes of Colombia. It moves through thickets, forest edges, and trees in pairs or small groups, feeding mainly on fruit, flowers, leaves, and other plant material. It remains comparatively widespread, but healthy forest and woodland still matter for keeping local populations secure.
