Gray Tinamou

Tinamus tao

Vulnerable

The Gray Tinamou is a large, secretive forest bird of Amazonian and Guianan forests. It is seldom seen despite its size, keeping to shaded ground where its grey-brown plumage blends with trunks and leaf litter. Fun fact: Its booming call can sound surprisingly distant and ventriloquial in dense forest.
