Highland Tinamou

Nothocercus bonapartei

Least Concern

The Highland Tinamou is a forest tinamou of humid mountains from Costa Rica and Panama through the Andes to Bolivia. It favors dense undergrowth, cloud forest, and forest edges where its brown plumage disappears into leaf litter. Fun fact: Its whistled calls can carry through misty mountain forest at dawn and dusk.
