Horned Curassow

Pauxi unicornis

Endangered

The Horned Curassow is a large, mostly forest-dwelling cracid of humid montane forest of central Bolivia. It spends much of its time walking quietly on the forest floor, where it feeds on fallen fruit, seeds, and small invertebrates. Its conservation story is important, with habitat loss and hunting pressure making protected forest especially valuable.
