Horned Guan

Oreophasis derbianus

Endangered

The Horned Guan is an arboreal cracid of humid highlands of Chiapas and Guatemala. It usually keeps to forest canopy and edges, feeding heavily on fruit and helping move seeds through tropical and subtropical forests. Its conservation story is important, with habitat loss and hunting pressure making protected forest especially valuable.
