Philippine Megapode

Megapodius cumingii

Least Concern

The Philippine Megapode is a widespread island scrubfowl of the Philippines, northeastern Borneo, Sulawesi, and nearby islands. It uses forest, beach forest, coastal scrub, and small islands, where it scratches for fruit, seeds, and invertebrates. Fun fact: Some populations nest in mounds, while others bury eggs in warm sand or soil.
