Rufous-vented Chachalaca

Ortalis ruficauda

Least Concern

The Rufous-vented Chachalaca is a noisy, social cracid of northern Colombia, northern Venezuela, Tobago, and nearby islands. It moves through thickets, forest edges, and trees in pairs or small groups, feeding mainly on fruit, flowers, leaves, and other plant material. It remains comparatively widespread, but healthy forest and woodland still matter for keeping local populations secure.
