The Spotted Nothura is a widespread grassland tinamou of southern South America. It occurs in pampas, fields, open scrub, and lightly cultivated areas, where its spotted and barred plumage provides excellent camouflage. Fun fact: This species may crouch motionless until nearly stepped on before bursting into flight.
