The Tongan Megapode is the only surviving megapode in Polynesia, now centered on Tonga's volcanic islands. It uses warm volcanic soils and forested island habitats for nesting and foraging. Fun fact: Conservation translocations have helped establish additional populations away from its original single-island stronghold.
