The Waigeo Brushturkey is a rare megapode endemic to Waigeo Island in West Papua. It lives in mountain forest and is threatened by hunting, habitat loss, and its very small range. Fun fact: The species was known from very few specimens before being rediscovered in the wild in the early 2000s.
